Perry residents can help make a difference for less fortunate families this upcoming holiday season.

Donations are currently being accepted for Perry’s Annual Toy Drive. Co-Coordinators John Andorf, his wife Linda, partnered with New Opportunities in Perry to receive donations to help families in need celebrate the holidays. Andorf illustrates that people looking to get donations need to go to New Opportunities and make an application for toys for their children. He mentions that he’s been apart of the toy drive for the last 13 years, and the event warms his heart to see the community’s support.

“What really makes it worthwhile, for me, is I don’t get to see the children when they open their toys, but seeing the parents come in and turn in their applications, and get their toys, and how thankful they are. You’re not only making a child’s Christmas, but probably even moreso, you’re making the parent’s Christmas.”

Andorf stresses that the Toy Drive is for low income families in the Perry School District. He pinpoints that people can make checks payable to New Opportunities, 2816 1st Avenue, in Perry. Andorf adds that there will be nine drop off locations throughout Perry and the deadline to deliver donations will be the first week of December. See the full list of locations below.
