In his first contested match of the season, 2023 Greene County High School graduate Kale Petersen was a technical fall winner at 125 lbs. for the Iowa Hawkeyes wrestling team on Friday night. Petersen got things started for Iowa with a 26-6 technical fall vs. Bellermine in Louisville, KT on Friday night as the Hawkeyes blanked the Knights, 49-0. The three-time Iowa high school State Champion had seven takedowns in the match as he improved to 2-0 this season. His other victory was by forfeit, so Friday night’s win was his first as a Hawkeye in a contested dual meet match.

The Hawkeyes won all 10 matches, nine by bonus points, and Coach Tom Brands Hawkeyes collected 40 takedowns while not giving up any takedowns to the Knights. Iowa is ranked number two in the country behind Penn State in most DI polls.
