An organization in Dallas County is holding a program revolving around a weather element tomorrow at the Perry Public Library.

Dallas County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is inviting children in kindergarten through fifth grade to learn about the power of wind. According to Extension Youth Outreach Coordinator Kathy Rottinghaus, the program will teach children how to prepare for dangerous situations in gusty conditions.

“We will be learning about clouds and wind and the opportunities to create an emergency kit, and a way to use their hands for service for those that are in need during these weather related events.”

Rottinghaus realizes that the weather has been calmer during the past few months, but believes it’s important to be ready in the event that the weather does turn nasty. She adds that it is a registered event that will be held tomorrow afternoon in the community room of the Perry Library from 4-5pm. Any questions can be directed to the Perry Public Library at (515)-465-3569.
