As the temperatures continue to get colder, the National Weather Service implores people to start putting certain items in their vehicles as the winter season approaches.
Meteorologist Chad Hahn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that before the snow hits the state of Iowa, people should be spending up to 15 minutes in order to scope out the proper materials needed throughout the winter season to be in their vehicles. He lists some common examples for people to start thinking about.
“A flashlight, an ice scrapper, a snow shovel, (and) booster cables, if you have a battery that goes out. All these things are helpful. Folks just need to take a little time and throw a few things in there and be better prepared as we get into the winter (season).”
Hahn encourages people to explore the National Weather Service’s website to find more tips about winter preparedness safety. He concludes that developing a gameplan now will save potential stress down the road.
