The 2024-25 basketball season is nearly here.
The AC/GC Chargers girls basketball team has taken part in multiple scrimmage games, with a tournament in Atlantic last Saturday, and a 58-34 preseason win against Creston Tuesday. The first game of the season will be Monday night, as the team hosts the IKM-Manning Wolves. The last time the two met was last year, which ended in a 44-23 victory for the Chargers. Shay Lemke led the team in points with 15, while Camdyn Richter led rebounders with eight, and Kelsey Carlson was the assists leader with three.
The Chargers return two starters from last season, with three having graduated last year, including Carlson. Lemke and Richter will be the veteran leadership the underclassmen look up to, with assistance from Becca Littler and Stella Largent, who came off the bench for many minutes of play time last season.
The Chargers roster this year is composed of senior Shay Lemke, juniors Karli Kautzky, Savannah Akers, Becca Littler, Chelsea Kopaska, Camdyn Richter and Caydence Boals. Rounding out the team are sophomores Stella Largent, Meranda Gruber, Nora Langgaard and Olivia Mahaffey, along with freshmen Lillie Lauzon and Kiera Boals.
