IAWRESTLE released its 2024-25 preseason wrestling rankings and three Greene County wrestlers are recognized. Senior Brent Dennhardt is ranked fifth at 165 lbs. while senior Gavyn Winters and sophomore Degan Miller both are ranked number 12 in their respective weight classes. Winters is projected at 120 lbs. and Miller at 175 lbs. All three wrestled last Feb. in the Class 2A portion of the 2024 State Tournament.

Head coach Kirk Davis and assistant Chris Conner had just short of 20 wrestlers report for Monday’s first day of practice. Davis told Raccoon Valley Radio there is no one at 285 lbs. and 190 lbs. may be difficult to fill, but he feels good overall about prospects for the upcoming season. There are 14 weight classes in Iowa high school wrestling and the Greene County program isn’t the only one finding it difficult to fill them all..
