The basketball season is only a few days away, and there’s some senior leadership for both teams for the AC/GC Chargers.

Noah Kading was named to the 2023-24 WCAC Conference 1st team, leading the Chargers in field goal percentage at 47.2%. He averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He also averaged 4.6 assists, the 3rd highest in conference, a 3.79 assist to turnover ratio, 2nd in conference and a Top 10 athlete for Class 1A, 1.1 blocks for 5th in conference and 3.8 free throw attempts per game, setting him at 10th in conference. Kading also set the team record for assists with 11, and tied with Jathan South for the team record of field goals made in a game with 14. He also set the season record for assists, doling out 106.

Jathan South was named a 2023-24 WCAC Honorable Mention, and had a 45.1% field goal percentage, averaging 15.4 points per game, which was 10th in conference and first on the Chargers, 4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, a 1.09 assist to turnover ratio, 1.75 steals and 0.7 blocks. He tied for field goals made in a game with 14, and blocks in a game with four.

Payton Policky was also named a 2023-24 WCAC Honorable Mention and had a 45.2% field goal percentage, averaging 10.5 points per game, 9.6 rebounds, which put him at 3rd in conference, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals. He also set the record for rebounds in a single game with 23, and the season record for rebounds with 220.

Shay Lemke was named to the All-District team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for the 2023-24 season. She was also able to help the team set some records last season, moving to 3rd on the all time scoring list with 504 points, 7th on the all time rebounding list with 209, and becoming the all time assist leader with 215 and all time steals leader with 195. She holds the record for points in a season with 272, and the record for assists in a career and season with 215 and 120 respectively, along with the record for steals in a career and season with 195 and 100 respectively. Lemke set the record for field goals made in a season with 103, and most field goals in a game, with nine.
