
Season number two of Greene County High School bowling started yesterday for the Rams and Coach John Woodford. The Rams made the trip to Osceola on Monday to face Clarke Community with the host team winning the girls’ match and the boys from Greene County taking that match.
The girls’ team score was 2,189 to 1,633. The Rams were led by junior Rozella Helms with a two game total of 293 pins. Sophomore Shelby Finley had 220 with freshman Trinity Hull 215, senior Hayleigh Rivera 192, and 183 for sophomore Clarissa Johnson. Helms had the high game for Greene County at 154. She started with a 139, her career best, then topped that by 15 pins in game two. The Rams begin the season with very little bowling experience including two girls who had not bowled prviously.
The Rams won the boys’ match by a 2,802-2,537 margin. There were three games of 200 or better in game one and two more in game two for Coach John Woodford’s team. Sophomore Chase Fecher rolled 206 twice for a 412 series. Sophomore Jacob Rumley had a 242 score in game two, the best score of his life, according to Coach Woodford. Rumley’s two game total was 409 with senior Lane Fields at 388, sophomore Trystan Cummings 356, and junior Teagan Chisholm at 340. Fields high game was 216 and sophomore Damein Hull had a 201 high game. All but 13 points of the winning margin took place in the two singles games.
