There is still time to register for a tree ahead of an annual holiday event in Jefferson.
The Winter Festival is hosted by Jefferson Matters and Events Team Chair Phillip Heisterkamp says this year, the two-day celebration is happening at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the main focus of this event started and continues to be all about the decorated trees and what some interpret what a tree means.
“It has morphed into something different and that’s one thing that we really want to build is the creativity aspect of the trees. And you can make a tree about whatever you want. It’s not just about promoting your business, though we love it when businesses do that, but we want sizes and shapes of trees of all different sorts. So we want people to bring out a little piece of them, we want to know what makes them tick, we want to know what your passions are, or anything that makes you tick on the inside.”
Heisterkamp adds that there are about 40 trees that have been signed up, but they are looking for more since they have more space. To register a tree, contact the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155. The Winter Festival is next Friday and Saturday, December 6th and 7th respectively.
