Following her re-election bid victory, Iowa Senator Sarah Trone-Garriott shares how fortunate she feels to represent residents in the state.

Trone-Garriott defeated Republican challenger Mark Hanson during the November General Election. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that prior to election night, she was knocking on doors not to beg for people to vote for her, but rather reiterate that their voice matters and she listens to the issues they individuals want addressed. Trone-Garriott has served one full four year term as a state senator and details why giving an outlet to Iowans is crucial.

“It’s a tremendous honor. I’m really grateful to the people who share honestly with me about the challenges they face, that they’re willing to give me an opportunity to try and help, and that they’re willing to share their stories with me and let me share them with their colleagues. And it’s a real challenge sometimes to find the way to assist folks and make things better, but I’m so grateful to have that opportunity again.”

Trone-Garriott’s first term was split, when she won in 2020 until 2022 in Senate District 22, then after re-districting served until this year. Next year will begin her second full term.
