Perry basketball will open up the season next week against Greene County.  The Bluejays have a couple of goals for the new year.  Perry won 9 games last year and were bounced in the first round by Bondurant-Farrar.  Coach Morris says the team wants to do better than that this season.  “Double digits would be nice but I’m thinking they want to advance in the tournament this year.  They want to get past the first round, second round and see where they can go.”

Perry basketball hasn’t reached double figures in wins since 2016-2017.  That year Perry won 13.  Janier Puente led the Bluejays that year with 18.5 ppg.  A new group of Bluejays will look to get out of the first round and win double digits in wins.  Geren Kenney and Owen Myers, last year’s leading scorers, return to help Perry reach that goal.  The season begins on Tuesday, December 3 when Greene County comes to Perry.  That night will be a girl/boy doubleheader as Heart of Iowa Conference play begins.
