The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is giving many fire departments grants, including a few within Dallas and Guthrie counties.
According to a press release, the DNR donated $416,000 to approximately 138 rural Iowa fire departments to assist with their efforts to protect residents and their property from wildfires. Out of the 138, money was given to the communities of Dexter, Stuart, Jamaica, and Yale. The release states that the grants offer valuable funding assistance for wildfire suppression, personal protective and communications equipment. The grants are possible with the help of the DNR Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service State and Private Forestry.
