During the University of Iowa and Nebraska football game on Friday night, the memory of one individual from Perry was honored.

Sources say the Pioneer Hero’s Game typically involves selecting a local hero from nominations to recognize at the Iowa and Nebraska football game, that is traditionally played the day after Thanksgiving, but according to the agricultural company they and the university chose to honor the memory of the late Dan Marburger. He passed away from injuries he sustained when he was shot protecting other students at a shooting incident on January 4th at the high school.
