A project in the city of Jefferson that officials were hoping to have completed before December will have to wait until spring.
Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson says the contractor for the pickleball court at Russell Park was not able to get the playing surface on the properly cured concrete that Caliber Concrete installed late summer-early fall, which they were hoping would be done by Thanksgiving. However, with that part coming up next spring, Peterson reminds everyone that this project was not led by the city.
“It looks like a fantastic project! We think about our community, and our community drive to get those things done. And it is fantastic because just remember that project was really pushed by a citizens group interested in having a pickleball court, and interested enough to coordinate the project and raise funds for the project. It’s fantastic when you see those things come together and the city’s happy to be a good partner in those types of things but it’s really driven by the citizens and we love to see that.”
Peterson adds that Caliber Concrete will also need to finish installing light poles at the new court area, which he is aware that the contractor was waiting for parts to be shipped, but anticipates that could still be done in December.
