A dancer from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School praises her coaches for installing leadership qualities as the team gears up for the state meet later this week.
Junior Genevieve Book tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she started dancing at age three to follow the family lineage of her great grandmothers and mom were dancers and that inspired her. She recalls the energy in Newton for regionals were off the chart as the audience was cheering ADM on, especially during the Hoopla routine. Book expounds on how her coaches have instilled leadership skills over the years.
“Leading by example, and they push us all really really hard and it really makes me believe in myself because they push me harder than I think that I can be pushed and it helps to prove both to them and to myself that I can do it.”
Book elaborates that competing against other schools is a way the Tigers continue to be challenged and a good place to base themselves off of. Book will be joining the rest of the varsity squad as they will travel to the state competition on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena and HyVee Hall to dance in three categories of Pom, Contemporary, and Hoopla.
