The first measurable snowfall of the year brought road crews out in Greene County, as well as some driving difficulties.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reported that there were two vehicles that had gone off the road earlier Monday morning. He noted one of those incidents resulted in serious injuries when the female driver went off the road on Highway 4 near Churdan and struck a tree. He said that individual went to Greene County Medical Center for treatment and the vehicle was a total loss. Williams mentioned the other incident was on 210th Street near Scranton where that vehicle slipped off the road, due to the light snow cover and went into the ditch and the driver was not injured.

Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss said plow crews were out on the paved county roads starting at 5am and were done before 9am, with just treating the roads with sand for better traction. A similar situation was reported by Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan about having two trucks sanding the streets in the city and they did not have to plow any of the roads. Both Weiss and Morlan thought their respective responses were good for the first snowfall of the season.
