The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Basketball team will start the 2024-25 season tonight as they welcome in a nearby school in Dallas County.
ADM is hosting a non-conference game tonight in Adel as Dallas Center-Grimes ventures in. This will be the first game of the year for both programs as they look to translate great seasons from 2023 to 2024. The Mustangs rolled onto a win against the Tigers last year, winning 73-42 in Grimes. ADM Head Coach Trevor Mikelson credits the coaches on DCG, and knows that it will be a tough battle.
“They’re a program that their coach has done such a nice job. It doesn’t matter who’s on the floor, they play basketball the right way, and they make it really hard on you defensively because they’re so skilled and so well-tuned offensively. And so, we just got to make sure that we tighten up and we’re a little more disciplined in some of our defensive coverages and if we get our opportunity to get out and run, I think we’ll have a good chance.”
DCG has won the past eight games versus ADM but lost eight seniors compared to the Tigers’ five. ADM finished the 2023 season with a 20-4 overall (14-1; 1st Place inside the Raccoon River Conference), losing to Bondurant-Farrar in the Class 3A Substate 8 Championship game. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF following the girls game at 6pm, with the boys tipping off at 7:30pm from ADM High School.
