The Greene County Historical Society has two events happening later this month to round out another year.
According to the Historical Society, the December program will be this Friday at noon at the Greenewood Center in Jefferson with the annual holiday concert, featuring some of the Greene County High School band students, playing festive music that is led by Band Director Wes Anderson. Lunch will also be served, with the annual meeting to follow, where the Historical Society says four new board members will be announced as well. Those new board members include Kristin Lang and Jeff Christensen of Jefferson, and Megan and James Holz of Grand Junction. The meal is $12 and today is the deadline to reserve a spot by calling 515-386-4408.
The final event of the year is an open house next Saturday from 9am-noon at the Historical Museum in Jefferson. Organizers invite everyone to stop by and hear the playing of holiday music on the museum’s grand piano, as performed by Janice Harbaugh. There will also be several Barbie dolls with holiday outfits on display, along with games, drawings for gift cards and refreshments with cinnamon rolls, cookies and hot cider. This event is free and open to the public.
