The AC/GC Chargers were on the road last night, and went home with a pair of victories.

The girls team got things started off with a 14-4 first quarter, and went into halftime up 25-12. For the third quarter, both teams came out and put up 13 points, taking the score to a 38-25 lead for the Chargers. AC/GC once again outscored the Wildcats in the fourth, and finished the game with a 48-27 win.

All 48 points came from the Chargers starters, with senior Shay Lemke leading the team with 19. Sophomore Stella Largent had 11 points on the night, with junior Camdyn Richter following with 10, and fellow junior Becca Littler rounded out the scoring with eight points. Lemke was named the Crafty’s Coffee Player of the game, and the opening defensive showing made the Dub P Apparel Elite Play of the Game, as the Chargers forced four quick turnovers on the Wildcats.

The boys game started off closer, with the Chargers leading 21-11 after the first quarter, and going into the halftime break up 39-26. The teams came back out and had a 17-14 showing in favor of AC/GC, ending the third quarter with a 56-40 Chargers lead. Things kicked up a notch in the fourth quarter, as AC/GC outscored West Central Valley 26-17, finishing the game with an 82-57 victory.

The Chargers saw plenty of playtime from some of their younger players, as Jathan South, Joe Crawford and Mason Wahl each racked up four fouls, with South sitting much of the third quarter to be able to come in in the fourth. Senior Payton Policky led the team in scoring with 21, with Crawford close behind with 18, and South just behind him with 15. Policky also had 13 rebounds, earning him a double double. Senior Noah Kading was held to only five points on the night, but was able to help lead the team in other areas, spending the majority of his time on the court, and being the only player to start all four quarters, earning him the Crafty’s Coffee Player of the Game. Two plays came in as the Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game, with both being slam dunks from South. The first was the first points of the game, and the second was what really sealed the game for the Chargers, as they opened the season with this victory.
