The high school wrestling season started last night for the Greene County Rams. Coach Kirk Davis’ team went 1-2 in a quadrangular hosted by PCM in Monroe. The Rams were quite shorthanded, but won vs. Ogden 44-36, then lost 42-33 to PCM and fell to Van Meter, 43-32.

Senior Gavyn Winters earned career victory 100 last night and he went 3-0 overall. Winters now has 101 career victories. Sophomore Jaron Jacobs, sophomore Degan Miller, and senior Marcus Ball also went 3-0. Senior Crew Conner went 2-0. Senior Brent Dennhardt, a two-time State qualifier, did not wrestle due to injury. Others missed the quad as well due to injury, illness, and other issues.

The Rams go to the Cliff Keen Independence Invitational on Friday and Saturday. A large event with teams from five states in the Midwest, it features past State Champions and numerous State place winners.
