A new area in the City of Perry is coming along at a good pace as the next phase will be completed for the winter season.

City Administrator Sven Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Iowa Street Stormwater Wetland project is located on the east side of Perry, and he notes that a trail has been put in as well as final grading. Peterson elaborates on the next steps that the contractor, Sandstone Management, will be doing throughout the winter and spring seasons.

“They’ll be doing a dormant seeding, which will stabilize the soil, so that it doesn’t erode over the winter, and then come spring, that seed will be able to germinate and get going right there in the spring for us to start taking care of.”

Peterson explains that this is phase one for the project as the city will be looking to put in bathrooms and playground amenities for children. He says that the timeline of completion depends on the scope of the overall project and funding availability. Peterson adds that more information will continue to be provided to the community as the project moves along.
