One Adair County 4-H group is hosting a community meal next week.

Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the Adair County Hot Shots will be hosting a free meal at the 4-H and FFA Building on the Adair County Fair Grounds. She shares why the group wanted to do this.

“You know, Adair County’s been through a lot in this last year. So, there is a program, it’s called Ignite the Spirit and basically it’s a community partnership program. So the Adair County Hotshots have applied for that, and with that, we’re awarded four cases of pork loins, so a significant amount of meat, in order to put together a community meal. It’s just our way of getting the community into the holiday spirit and giving them something to look forward to and, you know, a little bit of time to get together and enjoy a meal and socialize and get the spirit flowing in Adair County.”

Savage mentions that individuals may sit and eat or take their meal to go, and that the meal includes sliced pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans with bacon, salad, rolls and a dessert and drink. She adds that the meal will be served from 5-7pm, or until the food is gone.
