
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball teams were in action on Saturday, getting two victories against Winterset.
The ADM games were pushed from Friday to Saturday with the icy weather that hit the state of Iowa. The girls won 33-29, and the boys’ score was 71-42, in favor of the Tigers. In the girls game, ADM and Winterset went back and forth in the first quarter as ADM led 10-7. The Tigers would outscore the Huskies 10-2 in the second quarter to take a 20-9 advantage into the halftime locker room. In the third quarter, Winterset got back into the game by tallying 13 points and holding ADM to just six as the score was 26-22. The Tigers were able to hold off the Huskies after the gap was closed to three, but ADM won 33-29.
The Tigers were led by freshman Ella Subbert, who had nine points, followed by sophomore Alexis Maxwell’s seven and six points from senior Kelli Storck. Leading the charge for the Huskies was senior Brynn Acton with 10, then sophomore Natalie Smith with nine and senior Ashlynn Devine’s eight. ADM improves to 4-3 on the season as Winterset drops to 2-3.
For the boys, the Tigers and Huskies were neck and neck as the game was tied at 17 at the end of the first quarter. The contest continued to be competitive as ADM took a slight 34-28 lead into the half. The third quarter was the difference maker as the Tigers outscored the Huskies 21-9 to lead by 18 at the end of the third, then carried that momentum into the fourth by pouring in another 19 points to win 71-42.
ADM was led by junior guard Hudson Lorensen with 25 points, then junior Hudson Shull marking 11, and senior Cade Fisher with 10. Winterset was led by senior Hank Wilmes’ 10 points, then it was junior Logan Porter with nine, and senior Ryley Johnston with six. The Tigers stay undefeated at 4-0 (3-0 inside Raccoon River Conference), while the Huskies fall to 0-5 (0-3 RRC).
Winterset will battle North Polk on Tuesday, and ADM will return to Adel for a matchup against Bondurant-Farrar with the girls at 6pm, then the boys at 7:30pm.
