In their last meeting, the West Central Valley School Board returned to discussion on the athletic director position for the district.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that the topic has come up about this time of year for the past three years, and the discussions have centered around how they see the position functioning, and if it needs to be changed. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they have been looking this position over so closely.

“Just a lot of it has to do with the time involved in the position. The district has obviously over the years gotten more and more activities for kids, and the position becomes more and more involved, and I think you’re seeing a lot more schools move towards that position, that it’ll look differently than what it probably has in the past.”

Shockley mentions that at this time, no action was taken, and that he believes that the topic will be discussed again in the January Board meeting, where a decision will be made for the coming year.
