The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Cheer Team made history during their regional competition.
ADM Cheer Coach Kaitlyn Reams shares that the team participated in regionals this past weekend in Adel, as they tallied a second place finish. The rank qualified the Tigers into the National Cheerleaders Association competition for the first time in program history, that will take place in Dallas, Texas. Reams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the watching the development process of the girls is her favorite aspect of it.
“A lot with cheer, there’s hard times and it puts a lot of strain on their bodies, and especially being a student on top of cheering, and they put a lot of work into it, so just seeing something that they have maybe never done before, like a certain skill or they’re working on their tumbling and not able to get their backhand spring, and then at the end of it, they get it or it just like clicks in their minds. Things like that, I really love watching and I love watching each athlete grow and succeed.”
Reams details that the 2024-25 season began in October, with competitions held in Carlisle, the Heartland Championships in Ankeny, the Triton Challenge in Fort Dodge, and the state competition at the Jacobson Building at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel. She adds that 13 girls are on the cheer team and the National competition is happening January 24th-26th.
