Sporting competitions have stopped momentarily around the state.  The Iowa Girls High School Union has released postseason assignments for wrestling.  New for this year is a 2 class system for girls wrestling.  Perry is considered a 1A school and will wrestle with schools with similar enrollment or less.  The announcement of Districts on Friday, January 31 will have Perry at Colfax-Mingo School in Colfax.  19 schools will compete in the District including AGWSR, AC/GC, Ballard, Baxter, BCLUW/SH, BGM, Colfax-Mingo, Earlham, English Valleys, Grinnell, Iowa Falls-Alden, Iowa Valley, Meskwaki Settlement, Ogden, Perry, Saydel, Vinton-Shellsburg, West Marshall, and Woodward-Granger.  The top 2 girls in each of the 14 weight classes will advance to the State Tournament in Coralville Feb 6 and 7.  Coach Maylum is hoping 5 girls from Perry will qualify.
