The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During reports, County Attorney Thomas Laehn addressed the Board on a few items. He told the Board that they will need to approve a memorandum of understanding with theSecretary of State’s Office and tell what project the American Rescue Plan Act (APRA) funds are going to be spent on by the end of the year, or the money reverts back to the federal government. At that time, the Board wanted to continue to pursue an HVAC project for the Greene County Courthouse. Then following a discussion, the Board agreed to look into having a victim/witness coordinator that assists with collections for victim restitution and advocates on behalf of victims, which Laehn said the prosecutor is not allowed to do.

Next, the Board heard more 2026 fiscal year funding requests including RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program for $3,000, Bell Tower Festival with $3,750, Jefferson Matters asked for $7,500, Greene County Historical Society had a request for $6,500 and Indigent Care with $800. The Board took no action following any of the requests, as they will handle each one during budgetary discussions.

The Board did approve a resolution to appropriate the final 15-percent of the current fiscal year budgets for the county departments and a resolution to hire Hailey Saffel as a full-time dispatcher for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. She will have an annual salary of $45,500 with an effective start date of January 8th. Finally, the Board reviewed its committee and board assignments, with expected approval to happen at the organizational meeting on January 2nd.
