A business in the Paton-Churdan School District recently made a donation to help assist less fortunate students.
The United Bank of Iowa gave $2,078 to the P-C Rocket Fuel Program that provides food to students on Fridays with enough food to get through the weekend. According to Alyssa Juergensen, the amount that was donated to the P-C School District came from their ongoing UNITED TOGETHER Makes a Difference Cause Day campaign. She says on the second and fourth Fridays of the month, UBI employees at all 35 locations can pay $5 to wear blue jeans and their UNITED TOGETHER t-shirts. Then the bank matches those funds up to $1,000 to a cause that is randomly drawn from the employee suggestions.
Juergensen notes that the goal of this Cause Day effort is for the employees to make a difference in their communities and support people who are in need in the areas the bank serves. The Rocket Fuel Program was drawn as one of the recipients on December 12th and this program goes mainly to students that receive free and/or reduced lunches to ensure they have food during winter break.
