
The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is coordinating two upcoming youth-related programs.
JPRD Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says a Youth Volleyball Camp will be held next Monday and Tuesday from 1-2:30pm at the Greene County Community Center for third through fifth graders. He details that this two-day program is to teach the basics of volleyball at an early age through drills and games. Pohlmeyer notes that the Greene County High School Assistant Volleyball Coach Adrianna Vargas will lead the program and the cost is $10 for community center members and $15 for non-members.
Pohlmeyer says the other program is a Mini Cheer Camp and that will happen next Tuesday and the following Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm at the community center for individuals who are pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. He explains that following this two-day camp will be a performance of the routines and jumps the participants learn at the halftime of the high school varsity boys home basketball game the following Friday night, January 3rd. Pohlmeyer talks about the importance of having the high school cheerleaders and cheer coach instilling skills at a younger age.

The cost for the Mini Cheer Camp is $20 for community center members and $25 for non-members. The deadline to sign up is by next Monday, December 30th. You can stop by the community center or click here to register for either program.
