The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards discussed legislative priorities in their December meeting.
AC/GC Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that with the Boards wanting to explore consolidation, they wanted to also look at getting the incentives for doing so reinstated at the state level. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there will be a meeting on January 6, 2025, where local legislators will be there to discuss those options with the two School Boards
“So we’re going to set that up to meet at the junior high, have both Boards there to sit down with representative (Ray) Sorensen and possibly some others so we can go ahead and visit about our priorities. And one of those being re-upping those reorganization incentives through whole grade sharing and then really the incentives to get to that consolidation piece.”
Rasmussen mentions that he has also heard back from Senator Jesse Green, who represents Guthrie County and is interested in attending the meeting as well. He adds that he did hear back from Senator Amy Sinclair, who represents Adair County, and that she would be unable to attend, but that she is aware of AC/GC and other schools within her senate district that are wanting the consolidation incentives reinstated.
