An athlete from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Bowling team highlights the value about being on the debut team in the school’s history.
Freshman Hazel Marquardt shares that she developed her love for the sport of bowling from a friend who did it for many years. She adds that when she explained it to her parents, Marquardt learned that her father was a bowler during his high school days, which cemented her decision to go after it.
ADM High School partnered with Waukee High School for several years, then decided to have their own team after a healthy amount of interest was shown. Marquardt describes that even though she was never apart of the Waukee partnership, she realizes the significance that it took for ADM to be able to accomplish this.
“It means that we like pave the way, we learned mistakes, we learned like how to do this for like future years, and for future people joining.”
Marquardt enjoys the ride’s home with her teammates following a match to reminisce on the performance. She is grateful for Head Coach Sarah Boesen for perfecting a straight shot down the alley, and is striving to rack up a total of 150 points in a meet.
The next match for the Tigers will be on January 6th, 2025, when they host Pella Christian at the Adel Family Fun Center at 4pm.
