Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball Coach Danielle Craig discusses how the first half of the season has unfolded as the team enjoys their winter break.
ADM is currently third in the Raccoon River Conference with an overall record of 6-3 (4-1 RRC) as Craig is in her first season as the head coach. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that through the first nine games, the defense is playing with a lot of intensity, and offensively, she credits the work of each player that is on the floor, especially senior Kelli Storck for her grit, who is averaging a little over 10 points per game.
Craig mentions that the team will practice a little bit over the break, but she wants the girls to spend time with their family and friends for majority of it. The first game back for the Tigers will be a non-conference game against Clear Lake on January 3rd at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, and Craig notes that the location for practice may have to be altered.
“We’re going to have to try and shoot somewhere else. The feel there is always different (and) we’ll see if we can try and get into someone’s gym, just to get the view, but at the end of the day, a really great opportunity for our girls, and we’re excited to go down there and play a good Clear Lake team.”
Craig stresses that one thing she’s learned in her first year at the helm of ADM Girls Basketball is that the Raccoon River Conference is tough, and notes that any team is capable of beating another on any given night. ADM will face off versus Clear Lake at 6:30pm on January 3rd at Wells Fargo Arena.
