A Perry man has been sentenced to multiple years in prison following an alleged incident that occurred in October.

According to court documents, 40-year-old Rudolph Zagar was sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to a serious misdemeanor of theft in the fourth degree. He also pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree attempted burglary, which sentenced him to two additional years in prison, that will run consecutively. The documents show that in an unrelated case, Zagar pled guilty to stalking and received two more years in prison for a total amount of five years.

The charges stemmed from an incident on October 27th when Zagar allegedly busted a window to a basement of a home in the 14000 Block of Hull Avenue, in Perry between 1 and 3am. According to court documents, he stole a tablet from the home while the place was unoccupied. However, the victim received a notification on their phone from security cameras to alert them.

Court documents show that in relation to the sentencing, Zagar was also ordered to pay $430 in court fines and $90 in surcharges. Zagar will be held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
