With the latest iterations of sculptures removed from the Greene County Courthouse grounds, and the lone art piece being the 2024 Ring Out for Art winner, the call for the 10th Annual Ring Out for Art contest is underway.
Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn says they are accepting applications now for the 2025 competition. Artists can submit their ideas of a sculpture until January 15th, with the selection of the finalists to be announced on January 20th. Those sculptures are then delivered and installed in the first part of May, with voting to take place until August 15th, when the winning sculpture is announced and will then remain on the courthouse grounds until next April.
McGinn notes that the selected finalists will receive a $1,000 stipend from Home State Bank, with the winning artist to receive an additional $500. She points out the Home State Bank signed on for another year, and she appreciates their continued commitment to this contest that will see its 10th anniversary.
“We can’t do anything without other people’s support. So that’s what’s so exciting for me as a chairperson of this, we have gotten just so much support. And not only from here but from Iowa Art Council. Once they figured out that Jefferson is really a place that supports the arts, they were all over us. So it’s really great.”
