The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball team is off to a great start under first year Head Coach Danielle Craig, as they are one-win shy of tying last year’s win total.
Craig has led ADM to a 6-3 start prior to winter break. During the 2023-24 season, the Tigers were 7-15 overall (5-11 inside Raccoon River Conference) and lost 55-53 in the Class 4A Region 8 Quarterfinal game against Carlisle. Now in the 2024-25 year, ADM is 4-1 in RRC play, with the only loss so far to the undefeated North Polk Comets. Craig was an assistant coach last year, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio that in her first year at the helm, she’s learned just how competitive the RRC is.
“You got to come ready to play every single day. When you see a record from a team, you almost don’t even want to look at it because it doesn’t matter on a game day. I think it’s us just trying to stay consistent and coming in with the right mindset every single game, and playing how we play, and not letting someone’s record scare us or think that they’re not really good, because everyone is really good in this conference.”
ADM will return to conference play on January 7th, when they travel to Gilbert High School. Before that, the Tigers will have a non-conference game versus Clear Lake at a neutral site over at Wells Fargo Arena, in Des Moines this Friday, with tipoff at 6:30pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting at 6:15pm.
