2020 Greene County High School graduate Tyler Miller and his Iowa State University football teammates won the Pop-Tarts Bowl game in Orlando on Saturday by a 42-41 final. Points were more plentiful than there are flavors of Pop-Tarts. It was especially high scoring early on for both teams with the score tied 28-28 and more than nine minutes remaining on the first half clock!

Miller, the ISU right tackle and the offense were in high gear, scoring touchdowns on their first four offensive possessions, just the third time an Iowa State team had done that in the last 20 seasons. Miami scored the last 10 points in the opening half and took a 31-28 lead at intermission. Down 41-35 in the final minute, ISU scored a TD and extra point, then intercepted a pass on the final play of the game to secure the victory.

ISU, ranked 18th, finished with an 11-3 record, while number 13 Miami finished 10-3.

Miller is a fifth year senior and three year starter in the offensive line. Raccoon Valley Radio hasn’t been notified if Miller will explore his NFL options or return to Iowa State in 2025, using a sixth year granted because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
