Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Bowling Head Coach Jason Kilker expresses his gratitude to the administration for being named the first coach in the school’s history.
ADM is in its first year of having its own bowling team, as the school partnered with Waukee High School for the past number of years. Kilker tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there wasn’t bowling around when he graduated from ADM back 1995, but he joined different leagues growing up. He believes it’s an honor to be able to lead young athletes after spending lots of time in the community.
“It’s real exciting. I’m really glad I was given the opportunity. I even bowled when I was a youth. It was called Horseshoe Lanes at the time. Even young and growing up in Adel, I’ve bowled there before too, so it’s kind of nice to come full circle.”
Kilker states that several boys that bowled with Waukee last year are bringing leadership to the newer guys on the team, but everyone is becoming more comfortable with each as the season goes along. ADM lost the first three matches to Ballard, Oskaloosa, and Waukee, but won the last two versus Pella and Sigourney Keota.
The Tigers will be back in action this coming Monday at the Adel Family Fun Center taking on Pella Christian at 4pm.
