Mercedes Ponce is having a tremendous senior campaign.  She has started the season 21-2.  During the wins, the senior has took home gold at the Ames Invite, Saydel Invitational, and Fort Dodge Invite.  Mercedes also has a silver medal from the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament.  Only one girl has been able to top her so far this season, Katie Biscoglia from Raccoon River Northwest.  The new two class State tournament means the Jayettes won’t have to face off against any girls from Raccoon River NW in the postseason.  Ponce fills the weight class of 105 and is hopeful to make a return trip to Coralville.  The senior has scored 242 points to lead the Jayettes this season
