A youth program is coming up soon with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.
JPRD Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says the Junior High Cheer Camp is for boys and girls in fifth through eighth grade with two dates, on January 14th and 16th from 4:30-5:30pm at the Greene County Community Center. He explains that participants will then get to perform their practiced routines at half-time of the Greene County High School home varsity boys basketball game on January 17th. Pohlmeyer invites any interested middle school-aged youth to join them for this two-night program.
“Maybe find something that they’re passionate about and they can pursue. I mean, it is an opportunity to go to college, right? There is opportunities beyond just high school. So it’s always good to see kind of that revolving door and you know, seeing others get others interested in maybe find their passion.”
Pohlmeyer says the cost for this program is $20 for community center members and $25 for non-members, and the high school Ram Cheer and Cheer Coach Deb Wolterman will be leading the Cheer Camp. Call the community center at 515-386-3412 or click here to sign up.
