The start of the 2025 portions of the high school basketball seasons for Greene County and Paton-Churdan is tonight.

Greene County hosts Saydel (Des Moines) in the high school gym in Jefferson. The Rams are 0-6 in girls’ basketball and 0-4 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. Saydel is 4-4 overall. The Eagles are the only team the Rams have wins against the last two seasons, and this is the first of two meetings this season.

The Rams and Eagles are both 2-5 in boys’ basketball with one difference being the Eagles have a conference victory while the Rams do not.

There are six quarters of JV boys’ scheduled prior to the varsity games, so the girls may or may not start at 6 o’clock depending on the length of the preliminary contests. The varsity boys’ game will follow the girls. Both varsity games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.racconvalleyradio.com.

The Paton-Churdan teams host Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton in Churdan.
