The City of Adel is looking to finalize many proposals that will benefit residents in 2025.

According to Adel Mayor Jim Peters, the city is planning to work on a number of projects throughout the year, with a big one being the reconstruction of Rapids Street. He states that the idea has been kicked around for a while and will be similar to the work that was done on Main Street back in 2016. Another project that Peters is anticipating is annexing land on the southside of town for the brand new high school for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District.

“We’re excited about that, and we’ll be looking to annex an additional 320 acres in that area and this would be out along Meadow Road. So that’s something that we’re definitely going to be looking at.”

Peters announces that the city recently met with the Iowa Department of Transportation about building a roundabout for the new school as well as installing turning lanes, medians, and other safety features. He notes that the new high school is not planning on opening until 2027.
