
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball teams were on the road in Gilbert seeking wins on Tuesday night.
ADM girls fell in a competitive contest 53-47, while the boys lost a nail bitter 68-67. In the girls game, the first quarter was back and forth before ADM took a 15-10 lead, then led slightly 24-22 at the halftime break. Gilbert scored 17 points in the third quarter and took a one-point lead (39-38) into the final frame. Gilbert would scored 14 more points including clutch free throws to win by a final of 53-47.
Gilbert was led in scoring by senior Ella Henningsen, who poured in 22, followed by sophomore Callie Hales with 10, and senior Abby Patel with seven. ADM saw freshman Ella Subbert contribute with 12 points, then junior Madelyn Roundcount with nine, and senior Kelli Storck had eight points. Gilbert improves to 6-3 (4-2 inside Raccoon River Conference), while ADM drops to 7-4 (4-2 RRC).
The boys contest was close through as Gilbert led 19-15 after one quarter, but ADM outscored them 18-13 to take a 33-32 advantage into the locker room at half. ADM would scored 22 more points to lead 55-52 at the end of three, then Gilbert had big shots down the stretch from senior Brody Hague, and a missed potential game winner from junior Trey Bryte (who had six points) at the buzzer, as Gilbert won 68-67.
Gilbert had four players in double figures with junior William Terrones with 17 points, then Hague’s 16, followed by junior Preston Stensland, who had 14, and it was 11 from senior Connor Rash. For ADM, they were led by junior Hudson Lorensen’s 24 points, followed by 13 from junior Hudson Shull, and 10 from senior Cade Fisher.
Gilbert improves to 6-2 overall (5-1 RRC), while ADM falls to 6-3, and 4-2 inside the RRC. The Tigers are back in Adel on Friday as they welcome in the Boone Toreadors. Girls begin at 6pm with the boys afterwards at approximately 7:30pm.
