An athlete on the Raccoon River Wrestling Team, from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School believes that the team camaraderie is a factor for the team’s achievements.
ADM senior Kelsey Greenslade comments that she’s spent much of her time in the offseason working on shots as well as defensive maneuvers to prepare for her final high school season. She attributes the closeness of the girls as a vital reason that the team is able to have success.
“Our room is just very locked in. We like to have a lot of fun, it’s a room full of girls, I mean there’s a lot of laughter all time, but really just knowing that that’s a time you need to lock in and kind of be serious and take a step back, and look at it’s more than yourself in that aspect because no matter what your role is on the team, you have to be focused and know that you have to put in the hard work because at the end of the day, it’s not just for yourself at those big tournaments, but for your teammates as well, especially when we’re going for big titles like we are.”
Greenslade acknowledges that the sport of wrestling has assisted in growing her work ethic as she credits her coaches for confirming that wrestling will brace her for any obstacle in life. RRW is back in action tomorrow at Waukee Northwest High School for the Central Iowa Metropolitan League Championships at 10am.
