The Brenton Arboretum in Dallas Center is in store to see some changes that will benefit guests.
According to Executive Director Melissa Burdick, they recently installed a brand new restroom facility to replace porta potties. She is excited to hear ] that guests are appreciative of the upgrade, which is over by the open air picnic pavilion. Burdick details that improvements are also happening to the main entrance area. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that for the 27 years the organization has been in business, the entrance was a pop up door, but they are constructing one to be more stationary.
“Now, we’re going to be transitioning to an actual mechanized gate. So, we’ll be able to ensure that we have good security at night, when nobody’s there, just keeping the grounds safe, and it’s also going to be really beautiful. We’re going to do some nice hardscapping and landscaping around it, and we’re going to do a little bit of reorienting of our entry drives, just to make sure it’s smoother, safer, and easier to understand where to go when you enter the arboretum.”
Burdick anticipates that the door will be put in during the spring season.
