A newer program is happening at the end of this week with the Jefferson Public Library and yet another new partner.
Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says a Winter Nature Walk is taking place at Spring Lake Park on Saturday from 1-2pm with Greene County Conservation Naturalist Jacob Fernholz leading the program where attendees will be observing birds in the area. She talks about how this new program came together.
“So when I met Jacob (Fernholz) I knew he was super, super excited to start partnering and doing stuff. One thing that I have been dying to do is winter programming, because winter doesn’t really stop people around here, we still go out and do things. So I wanted to sort of take a crack at nature programming, but I couldn’t find anybody to facilitate it, I could never figure out who to talk to, and then Jacob appeared and it all clicked.”
Saturday’s free program is for anyone ages five and older. Mount emphasizes that people should dress warmly as the National Weather Service is anticipating the daytime high on Saturday to be near 30 degrees.
