
A new provider has been hired to provide specialized treatments at the Greene County Medical Center soon.
According to the medical center, Dr. Joseph Merchant will be relocating his outreach oncology services from the Jefferson office with McFarland Clinic to the medical center starting next month. Patients will be able to receive infusion and chemotherapy treatments in Jefferson. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laurie Connolly is excited for the partnership with McFarland Clinic and Dr. Merchant providing those needed services for patients in a more comfortable environment that is closer to home.
Dr. Merchant has his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree is from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Dr. Merchant completed his residency at the University of Virginia Medical Center and his fellowship was done at the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the Iowa Medical Society.
Dr. Merchant will start seeing patients on February 5th and will be at the medical center two Wednesdays of the month on a referral basis. Call the medical center at 515-386-2488 for more information.
