A Perry woman was arrested for an alleged incident in Marion County in September of 2024 in connection to the death of an infant.

According to court records, on September 30, 2024, first responders went to a rural Marion County home for an unresponsive three-week-old baby that was pronounced dead at the scene. The baby was found with its biological parents, 29-year-old Lacy Jo Eiteman and 29-year-old Jacob Burns in an outside shed that the Marion County Sheriff’s Office described as a “makeshift living space.”

Court documents show that both Eiteman and Burns were in a caretaking role of the baby and they admitted to law enforcement to using alcohol and methamphetamine overnight before they fell asleep with the baby between them. The criminal complaint states that the baby was found with bruises on its body after the infant was found unresponsive and not breathing by Eiteman and Burns. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found at the scene. Blood samples were also positive for methamphetamine for Eiteman and Burns.

Arrest warrants were issued on December 26th charging both Eiteman and Burns with a Class B Felony for child endangerment resulting in death, a Class C Felony or neglect of a dependent person. Burns was arrested on January 1st and Eiteman was arrested this past Thursday, January 23rd and they were both booked into the Marion County Jail.
