The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling tournament is today and tonight in Story City hosted by Roland-Story. Class 2A eighth ranked West Marshall (State Center) is the team favorite. The Trojans are capable of filling all 14 weight classes and they have four wrestlers listed in the Jan. 22 IAwrestle individual rankings including those ranked one, two, four, and 10.

The Rams usually have anywhere from four to six open weights, but they do have four individuals in the IAwrestle rankings. Sophomore Brennan Jacobs is ranked eighth at 106 and senior Gavyn Winter at 120 lbs. is also in the eighth spot in the rankings. Senior Brent Dennhardt is rated ninth at 157 and sophomore Degan Miller checks in at number 12 at 165 lbs. Head coach Kirk Davis told Raccoon Valley Radio illness and injury are taking a toll this week, so fans aren’t likely to see all their favorite Greene County wrestlers.

The Rams haven’t competed since they finished sixth among 15 teams in Perry last Saturday with just eight wrestlers.
