Greene County’s girls’ bowling team went to Starline Lanes in Carroll Thursday afternoon and faced the Carroll Tigers. The Rams won for its first dual meet victory of the season by just five pins, 1,711-1,706. Coach John Woodford’s Rams are 1-6 in dual meets. Ram senior Allison Fields had a two game series of 280, second highest of the day. Senior Hayleigh Rivera shot 232 for fourth overall and freshman Trinity Hull had a 229, good for fifth overall. Fields had the high game for the Rams at 147 with 120 for both Hull and Rivera.

The Rams hosted Woodward Academy in boys’ basketball on Thursday night at Greene County High School with the Knights winning the non-conference contest, 49-42. The game was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. WA led by nine points more than once, then trailed 42-40, but scored the last nine points of game. The victory snapped an eight game losing streak for the Knights as they improved to 2-8 and the Rams fell to 3-12. Greene County has just one win at home since late in the 2022-23 season. Seniors Mar Billio and Ja’ Quay Gardner combined for 31 points for the Knights. Billio led all scorers with 18 points. Senior Camden Jacobs scored eight points to lead Greene County and junior Isaac Karber came off the bench and scored seven. Nine of the 20 turnovers committed by the Rams came in the first quarter and WA had 19 turnovers.
