
Perry basketball hosted Roland-Story last night for a girl/boy doubleheader. The second match up for these Heart of Iowa Conference clubs went similar to the first time. The girls game went to Roland-Story 50-15 while Perry took the boys 60-58.
The Jayettes dropped their 8th straight time to the Norsemen. Full court pressure doomed Perry in the first. After 19 turnovers, R-S built a lead 18-1. The Jayettes would go the entire first half without a made basket from the field. Connecting on 3 of their 4 free throws, they trailed 31-3 at half. The lead would grow to 36 at the end of three, 42-6. Final 50-15. Myers had a team high of seven points for Perry.
In a back and fourth first quarter, Owen Myers passed Brad Stracke for sixth all time on the Perry scoring list. Myers 6 points helped the game be tied 15-15. The Norsemen would take a 30-29 half time lead. The Bluejays were outscored 19-12 in the third, 49-41. Perry would score 13 of the first 15 points in the fourth to take 54-51 lead and hold on for the 60-58 win.
Next up is a trip to Des Moines to take on Saydel on Tuesday
